Just like most other materials, your old light bulbs can be recycled too. This helps to keep these products out of landfills and allows the materials to be reused in the production of new products. 98% of the materials used in mercury-containing lights are recyclable through the LightRecycle program. Since 2010, this program has diverted over 40 million lighting products from our landfills. D&S Electric is proud to take part in this lighting recycling initiative in Williams Lake by accepting all light bulbs and tubes for recycling.
Why Choose Recycling?
That one, small burnt out lightbulb probably seems so unimportant that you don’t think twice before tossing it in the garbage. But think about all the other lightbulbs being thrown away each day. If every person recycled instead of placing it in the garbage, we can make a huge difference.
Since first beginning, the LightRecycle program has kept millions of items containing recoverable materials, like glass, metal and phosphor powder, out of landfills and waterways and has rechannelled them to other uses. By joining together and making the conscious decision to recycle, that one small bulb can turn into a movement that makes a significant positive impact on our environment.
